Haydn & Rollett is a rare example of a company that truly lives their brand essence “Excellence Together”, which we developed as part of their brand identity six years ago. As it is such a well-lived brand essence so firmly entrenched in the culture of the company, the theme, “75 Years Together” emphasises the historically collective nature of how Haydn & Rollett works.
The first step was to develop an ancillary visual identity for Haydn & Rollet’s 75th Anniversary celebrations; elegant yet celebratory, whilst retaining the company’s distinctive brand. The colour that represents 75th anniversaries is diamond white, hence silver represents the shimmer of diamonds, coming to life as the background to pages 97–119, celebrating the current team.
The next step was to create a “75 Years Together” logo lockup that built upon Haydn & Rollett’s existing visual identity. We then designed a large-scale physical fabrication of this lockup, which was taken to their office and various job sites so that it could be photographed alongside their teams in the field on pages 40–47.
Continuing the supplementation of Haydn & Rollett’s identity, we designed an extended icon set that depicts celebratory themes; dine, party, dance and celebrate. These icons were incorporated as part of the various anniversary collateral, and finds a fitting home in the elegant bookmark band that helps readers navigate such a large publication.
Applying all these elements to Haydn & Rollett’s almost 350-page retrospective, the result is a publication that balances their DNA of fastidious workmanship and Excellence Together; a triumphant celebration of their history, growth, people and work from 1946 to the present.
Ultimately, through all the staff photographs, the interviews with managing directors past and present, the comprehensive documentation of all Haydn & Rollett’s work to date, this project represents much more than the sum of its parts. It isn’t simply a publication. It’s a celebration of the people who are and always will be part of Haydn & Rollett. Cheers to the years gone by and the years to come!
